Case Study Next PLC

Improved access and increased safety for maintenance teams

At C&C Fabrications, what makes us different is the fact that we can provide bespoke and cost-effective solutions for our clients. This case study explains a problem that Next came to us with and the solution we came up with.

The Brief

Next’s warehouse at Wath Upon Dearne had recently installed a wrapping machine to assist with packages. The access to the tape for this was on top of the machine which made a point of access extremely difficult and also potentially dangerous. The client came to us needing a solution on how they could access the machine without moving it or taking up too much space.

The Challenges

We decided the best course of action was to design and manufacture a working platform that would span the length of the roller bed. It also needed to clear the boxes next to the machine and provide enough head room above when an operator was standing on the platform.

Our Solutions

Using the correct steels that would span the length of the roller  and also be durable enough to take the weight of a person standing on the area, we produced a fully functional working platform as shown in the images. This provided a perfect solution for the client and allowed them to operate the machine safely and efficiently.
