What is your name and role at C&C?

Aiden Wright, and I’m a Powder Coater on our morning shift.

How long have you worked with us and how did you get into the industry?

I’ve been at C&C now for just over four years. I was made redundant from my previous job during the pandemic, and my best friend worked in the office, and he suggested I apply for a pallet-ing job they had going at the time. I’ve then worked my way up to powder coating when the previous main Powder Coater left C&C, I had no industry experience before I joined but I gave it a go, and I really enjoy the work!

What do you enjoy the most about your role?

I like being busy and the different jobs I get to work on. I also like seeing how the raw steel materials come in, in their various parts and then I’m fortunate that I get to see the products at various different stages from the cutting and grinding to the fabrication itself. I get to see when it’s been laser cut, right through to the (almost) end-product when I’m powder coating, right before it goes out of the door to the customer.

What does a day in the life look like for you?

I get up at 5am and have a coffee, I then make another coffee to drive to work, where I come in and (you guessed it) make another coffee. It takes a fair bit of coffee for me to start functioning properly on a morning. Once I get to work, I also make sure the ovens and the compressor are switched on so they can be warming up for me to use them during the day. I’ll then check to see what work our Powder Coater from the afternoon shift has managed to get completed and if there’s anything leftover for me to be getting on with. Otherwise, I’ll just get going with the work I have lined up for the day.

What do you enjoy most about working with us at C&C?

I really enjoy the people to be honest; they make working here. I enjoy working with everyone in the team, they’re easy going and very trusting in getting our work done. It’s a very supportive atmosphere to be working in, whether you’re on fabrication, laser cutting or in the office, we all get along. Working as a team to complete the job and seeing all the work everyone puts into every piece of quality steelwork we produce, is another very rewarding side to the job.

In your own words, what do we offer at C&C?

Well, we offer the full service, we like to say we’re a one-stop-shop because we can provide the end-to-end support to customers – which many of them need for their projects. We have the laser cutter, in-house powder coating, design, fabrication, and we can provide assembly support for the products too.

Our team in the office especially, have a lot of experience in working in steel fabrication, so they can consult with many of our customers on their projects and provide insights and suggestions into how their project can be achievable and operate exactly how they need it to, we can give that advice and support using the knowledge of the whole team.
